The first thing that amazes us about the natural heritage of the Cascais coast is how everything has been preserved, in total harmony, so close to such a large metropolis like Lisbon, with all its attractions.
Extreme example of this is the Natural Park Sintra-Cascais, with a wide variety of landscapes, including sand dunes, forests, lakes, a rugged stretch of coastline, high cliffs interspersed with beaches, the imposing Cabo da Roca in the center of the magnificent Sintra Mountains, an area classified by UNESCO as World Heritage.
There is also a series of new projects that aim to involve visitors with nature by taking advantage of the Costa do Cascais’s natural wealth:
Quinta do Pisão
450 hectares of natural heritage inserted in Cascais Natural Park. Quinta do Pisão is an open-air space open to the public between 9:30 and 18:00.
This natural park offers visitors a multitude of activities in nature and cultural activities. Ecological interpretation, hiking, cycling movement or even horseriding, exhibitions, playful activities for the whole family.
The Cresmina Dune, near Guincho Beach, is an excellent example of nature preservation. Here, you can see fauna and flora native to the region and have wonderfully relaxing moments, contemplating the sea on the horizon.
