A full week of business networking, emotions and competition. This is what it is going to be experienced during the twenty-five edition of the World Corporate Golf Challenge World Final, the culmination of the world’s largest network of corporate golf days, where the National Winners from approximately 30 countries will come to Cascais to compete.

Executives from companies around the world will be representing both their company and country. The ‘Road to Cascais’ is the result of more than 150 events throughout more than 30 countries. Although all teams will compete valiantly to become World Corporate Champions, there can only be one winning team lifting the trophy at the end of the week (designed and produced by Vista Alegre). In last year´s edition, that honor fell to the team from China.

Commenting on the success of WCGC, José Guerra, chairman of the WCGC, said: “We are delighted to bring the World Final to the spectacular coast of Lisbon and in particular to Cascais which offers beaches, quaint villages and pristine forests. Cascais and Estoril are must-see destinations for any visitor to Portugal. Some of the best golf courses in Europe are located here, including the headquarters of the this year’s World Final, Oitavos Dunes links, considered one of the top 100 courses in the world, voted #58 in the world in 2015 by Golf Magazine. The golf course offers a true ‘professional’ golf tournament experience to all of our competitors and guests.”

SPORTS LEGENDS AND SCHOLAS OCURRENTES

This year’s Sports Legends Tournament (Former Corporate Cup) will take place at the OITAVOS DUNES GOLF COURSE and QUINTA DA MARINHA on the 22nd and 23rd June.

2013 saw the successful introduction of the now annual Corporate Cup. Over the years, teams have been captained by Ryder Cup Legends including Tony Jacklin CBE, Manuel Pinero, Ronan Rafferty and Eddie Polland; and Portuguese national football team goalkeeper Ricardo Pereira.

Sportsmen, VIP business guests and representatives from media worldwide will participate in this tournament parallel to the WCGC World Final. In 2018, the concept will evolve towards the new Sports Legends format.

Teams will compete in order to raise funds for Scholas Ocurrentes, helping them to achieve their international programs to educate children and young people in values by means of sport.

CASCAIS AREA

Cascais and its spectacular coastline is a must-see destination for any visitor to Portugal. Flanked on two sides by the Atlantic Ocean, the region is only 25 km from Lisbon and its international airport. Nearby, passing the beach of Guincho, is the imposing Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of continental Europe.

With a microclimate that lasts throughout the year, the Portuguese Riviera (as it is known in the region) offers a surprising variety of landscapes and attractions. From entertainment to business options: golf, sun, sea and water sports. Additionally, Cascais offers a new definition of the concepts of ecotourism, intended for various activities such as hiking, horseback riding, etc.

OITAVOS DUNES LINKS

Designed in 2001 by renowned golf course architect Arthur Hills, Oitavos Dunes is considered one of the best golf courses in Europe and the World.

Positioned in the prestigious 58th ranking “Top 100” Golf Magazine (2015 edition), the course ranks number one in Portugal and number two in Europe.

Designing the golf course was based on the respect and conservation of the delicate ecosystem of the dunes on which it sits. Oitavos Dunes is the first golf course in Europe and second in the world to achieve the “Gold Signature Sanctuary status” quality certificate, granted by Audubon International in recognition of the highest level of conservation. Each of the 18 holes offer breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean and Sintra.
