A full week of business networking, emotions and competition. This is what it is going to be experienced during the twenty-forth edition of the World Corporate Golf Challenge World Final, the culmination of the world’s largest network of corporate golf days, where the National Winners from approximately 30 countries will come to Cascais to compete.

Executives from companies such as Tata Hitachi, ICC, Europcar, and Time/Fortune will be playing the World Final where they will be representing both their company and country.

Commenting on the success of WCGC, José Guerra, chairman of the WCGC, said: “We are delighted to bring, for the third year running, the World Final to the spectacular coast of Lisbon and in particular to Cascais which offers beaches, quaint villages and pristine forests. Cascais and Estoril are must-see destinations for any visitor to Portugal. Some of the best golf courses in Europe are located here, including the headquarters of the this year’s World Final, Oitavos Dunes links, considered one of the top 100 courses in the world, voted #58 in the world in 2015 by Golf Magazine. The golf course offers a true ‘professional’ golf tournament experience to all of our competitors and guests.”

The ‘Road to Cascais’ is the result of more than 120 events throughout 30+ countries. Although all teams will compete valiantly to become World Corporate Champions, there could only be one winning team lifting the trophy at the end of the week (designed and produced by Vista Alegre). In last year´s edition, that honour fell to the team from China.

TWO COMPETITIONS IN 3 DAYS

The World Final week will officially be kicked off by both competitions: The Official Competition & The ONI Corporate Cup.

The Official Competition, with approximately 30 teams will begin on Friday 23rd June at 08,00h at Oitavos Dunes. The Official Team Draw will take place at the Welcome Party at the The Oitavos Hotel terrace on Wednesday 21st June, a day before of the Practice day.

The ONI Corporate Cup, an invitation only event for Senior executives and our Licensees Business Partners, will start at the same time as the Official Competition but it will be played in Quinta da Marinha Golf Course and Penha Longa. Two teams led by sports legends Eddie Polland and Ricardo Pereira will play in a Ryder Cup Competition format over two days.

GLOBAL AMBASSADORS

Players and guests will have the opportunity to share experiences with WCGC Official Ambassadors. Golf legend Eddie Polland will share stories about his career as a professional golf player and now, as captain as one of the ONI Corporate Cup competition.

Once again, Jeremy Dale will be the delight of all attendees with his Trick Show: a great show that will be enhanced by the addition of WCGC Ambassadors who will take part.

CASCAIS AREA

Cascais and its spectacular coastline is a must-see destination for any visitor to Portugal. Flanked on two sides by the Atlantic Ocean, the region is only 25 km from Lisbon and its international airport. Nearby, passing the beach of Guincho, is the imposing Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of continental Europe.

With a microclimate that lasts throughout the year, the Portuguese Riviera (as it is known in the region) offers a surprising variety of landscapes and attractions. From entertainment to business options: golf, sun, sea and water sports. Additionally, Cascais offers a new definition of the concepts of ecotourism, intended for various activities such as hiking, horseback riding, etc.

OITAVOS DUNES LINKS

Designed in 2001 by renowned golf course architect Arthur Hills, Oitavos Dunes is considered one of the best golf courses in Europe and the World.

Positioned in the prestigious 58th ranking “Top 100” Golf Magazine (2015 edition), the course ranks number one in Portugal and number two in Europe.

Designing the golf course was based on the respect and conservation of the delicate ecosystem of the sits. Oitavos Dunes is the first golf course in Europe and second in the world to achieve the “Gold Signature Sanctuary status” quality certificate, granted by Audubon International in recognition of the highest level of conservation. Each of the 18 holes offer breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean and Sintra.

THE OITAVOS

The Oitavos is an exclusive 5-star hotel, built in the vicinity of Quinta da Marinha, full of natural sand dunes and pine trees. Its design and innovation offer a modern perspective of Portugal, yet rooted in traditional Portuguese heritage.

It has 142 rooms (64m2), all with views of the ocean or the golf course. Inspired by the Atlantic coast, its design is intended to focus attention outwards through the historical and natural elements of the surrounding landscape.
